The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Naanlong Daniel, says the Tenth Assembly is committed to forging strong partnerships with the traditional institution and critical stakeholders to alleviate hardship on citizens and enhance peace across the State.
The Speaker stated this when he led Principal Officers and Members of the House on a solidarity visit to Wase Local Government area following recent security challenges in the area.
Addressing the Emir of Wase, HRH Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, the Speaker stressed the need for collaboration between the legislature, the traditional council, and stakeholders to tackle the prevailing challenges, assuring the Emir that the Assembly values the wise counsel of the traditional institution.

While encouraging residents to remain peaceful and embrace dialogue, Mr Daniel reaffirmed that government will not relent in safeguarding lives and property, adding that the Assembly will continue to deploy legislative instruments to support security and peacebuilding initiatives.
The Speaker thereafter gave cash donations to victims of attacks.

Responding, the Emir of Wase, HRH Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, described the visit as historic, being the first Speaker to visit the palace and commended his citizens centred leadership style and solidarity.

The ruler clarified that the security issues in Wase and Kanam are driven by criminality, rather than communal conflict.
