The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Chapter, on Sunday held its annual Press Week thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of Grace, Region 24, Lokoja, with a call for hope, unity, and national renewal.
Delivering a sermon titled “Arise to the Next Level,” the host minister, Pastor Rotimi Nathaniel, expressed confidence that Nigeria would soon overcome its economic and security challenges through God’s intervention and purposeful leadership.

The cleric commended the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that, though the process may be tough, the reforms would ultimately yield positive results and bring relief to citizens.
Citing 1 Samuel 1:18–19, Pastor Nathaniel assured worshippers that God has not abandoned Nigeria, declaring that the country would be delivered from insecurity, poverty, and hardship.
He strongly condemned the rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, ritual killings, and cultism, describing them as satanic practices that bring curses upon the land.
“In His mercy, God will deliver this nation from sorrow, pain, poverty, and lack. Nigeria shall rise stronger to the shame of her mockers and enemies,” he said.
The cleric further stressed the importance of generosity, urging wealthy individuals and corporate organisations to support the less privileged.
According to him, “The spirit of Jesus is the spirit of giving,” adding that acts of kindness and prayer are vital to national recovery.
Pastor Nathaniel also congratulated journalists on their Press Week celebration, praying for divine protection and wisdom as they continue to discharge their duties as society’s watchdog and the Fourth Estate of the Realm.
In his response, the NUJ Kogi Chairman, Mallam Seidu Ademu, expressed gratitude to the church leadership for hosting the thanksgiving service.
He reaffirmed the union’s commitment to truth, service, and the promotion of nation-building.
