The House of Representatives will today in Abuja hold a National Public Hearing on the ongoing Constitution Review of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The National Public Hearing aimed to gather citizens’ input on proposed constitutional amendments
This hearing aims to consolidate views from across the country, following zonal public hearings held in July 2025 across six geopolitical zones, where different interest groups and other stakeholders made their submissions on the proposed amendments.
The ongoing constitution review in Nigeria centers on several key areas, which include Electoral Reforms,
Security and Policing, Judicial Reforms, Devolution of Powers, Traditional Institutions, and Inclusive Governance, which proposed Reserved legislative seats for women and promoted gender equality
The National Public Hearing seeks to ensure a people-driven constitutional review process, reflecting Nigerians’ aspirations and collective will.
