The United Nations Development Programme UNDP is to strengthen collaboration with the Nasarawa State Government in the areas of innovation, digitization, and a knowledge-driven economy.
United Nations Permanent Representative to Nigeria, Ms Elsie Attafuah, disclosed this during a Courtesy visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state at the government house, lafia, the state capital.
The visit of the UNDP Permanent Representative to Nigeria, Ms Elsie Attafuah, to Nasarawa State, followed an earlier meeting with representatives of the State Government on ways to improve existing collaboration between them in various areas that will enhance the economic prosperity of the state and create job opportunities for teeming youths.
Speaking during the visit, Ms Elsie Attafuah described as impressive numerous developmental initiatives of Governor Abdullahi Sule, which prompted the UNDP to develop interest to partner with the state Government in the areas of Agriculture, Skills acquisitions, mining, and renewable energy.
The UNDP representative noted that discussions with the state government have reached an advanced level to deepen collaboration towards accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs’s
Responding, Governor Abdullahi Sule explained that Nasarawa State is blessed with vast land suitable for agricultural purposes and other investment opportunities ready for investment, especially in the area of renewable energy for agricultural and mining purposes.

The state Governor, therefore, directed some members of the state Executive Council to liaise with the UNDP team to visit some key Agriculture and mining sites across the state to see things for themselves.
