The Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, Makurdi has taken delivery of the third batch of medical equipment procured for it by the State Government worth billions of naira.
They include laboratory equipment for haematology, Anatomical Pathology and Chemical Pathology for effective detection of leukemia and other forms of cancer, prompt and accurate tissue diagnosis as well as effective monitoring of surgeries.



Others are equipment for the VIP Smart Clinic, IVF, Pediatric, Internal Medicine, Anaesthesia, Ophthalmology, Radiology and a Hitech Dialysis Machine for effective management of Lassa fever and other emerging diseases like Mpox.
Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Dr. StephRxen Hwande who received the items expressed appreciation to Governor Hyacinth Alia for the attention he has given to the hospital, saying with the equipment the hospital is ready to fulfil its vision as a training site for teaching, research and quality service delivery.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Service, Dr. Beatrice Tsavmbu who expressed satisfaction with the quality of the medical equipment commended the Chief Medical Director for the work he has done at the hospital.
Dr. Tsavmbu also thanked Governor Alia for prioritising BSUTH, noting that the arrival of the medical equipment would enable the hospital to effectively treat people suffering from major sickness and serve as a referral centre for people outside the State.
A representative of the company that supplied the medical equipment, Professor David Salifu said they were of the highest quality sourced from the best manufacturers in the world and appealed to the Government to continue using the company for medical supplies.
