The Kogi State Government has assured motorists of smooth traffic flow on the Lokoja–Abuja expressway before, during and after the festive season.
This commitment followed an interface with the contractor handling the dual carriageway and officials of the Federal Ministry of Works, where it was agreed to complete and open an eight to nine-kilometre stretch at the Koton-Karfe axis to prevent gridlock.

Governor Usman Ododo, who inspected the road alongside security chiefs, officials of both state and federal works ministries, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and chairmen of Kogi and Lokoja Local Government Areas, directed the immediate fixing of identified potholes to improve road conditions.

The Governor who was represented by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, assured that no traveller would be stranded on the road due to bad road conditions or security concerns.
He emphasised the government’s partnership with security agencies and stakeholders to deploy personnel to strategic points to maintain free traffic flow and ensure commuter safety.
The contractor’s representative, Mr. Frank Renzo, stated that the priority was to complete the targeted portion of the road ahead of the festive rush and finish the entire project next year.

Meanwhile, FRSC State Sector Commander, Tenimu Etuku, described the state as a major national traffic hub and reaffirmed readiness to clear all road obstructions to guarantee seamless travel.
