Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has officially unveiled the Ajaokuta Economic City, also known as the Kogi–Hunan Free Trade Zone, describing it as a groundbreaking milestone that ushers in a new era of economic growth for both the state and the nation.

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, Governor Ododo described the Free Trade Zone as one of the most ambitious and forward-looking economic initiatives in Nigeria in recent years.

He said the project was positioned to reshape industrial growth, expand job opportunities, deepen global trade integration, and fast-track technological development for future generations.

The governor explained that the project was the outcome of several months of rigorous technical assessments, intergovernmental cooperation, strategic investor engagements, and partnerships with development agencies from the People’s Republic of China.

According to him, its formal approval signals increasing confidence from both local and international investors in the economic direction of the state.
Governor Ododo praised President Bola Tinubu for his inspiring leadership, noting that the president’s confidence in Kogi has strengthened the state’s drive toward industrialization and economic self-reliance.
He also acknowledged key institutional partners including NEPZA, NACCIMA, NEZA, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the IRS Group, and private sector collaborators for their expert support and steadfast commitment to the success of the project.
