Seven hundred and seventy two medical consultations have been carried out at Mbawa Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State in the month of November.
Executive Secretary, Benue State Primary Health Care Board, Mrs Grace Ashi-Wende stated this during the Integrated Supportive Supervision, ISS, at the camp.
She explained that out of the number, four hundred and thirty five of the consultations were for adults who were twenty years and above, while the remaining three hundred and thirty seven were children aged zero to nineteen years.
The Executive Secretary maintained that female patients recorded the highest turnout of four hundred and fourteen patients, compared to twenty one who were male, saying the number of pregnant women who made themselves available for the Ante-Natal Care were three hundred and seventy two in November.
She expressed appreciation to UNICEF and the Benue State Government for ensuring that Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the camps were taken care of despite the huge challenges confronting them.
Mrs Ashi-Wende also commended UNICEF for employing and paying salaries of over one hundred ad-hoc staff across IDP camps in the state in addition to providing consumables for use at the clinics.
Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Benue State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Austin Adanu, applauded UNICEF for providing furniture to the clinics at the camps as well as extending its interventions to victims of the Yelwata attack taking refuge at International Market IDP Camp.
