Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has restated his administration’s commitment to quality education, describing it as the most enduring pillar for human capital development and sustainable societal progress.
Governor Ododo made this known at the 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony and 25th Anniversary celebration of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba.

The Governor noted that the university has recorded remarkable growth in size, stature, and credibility, attributing the progress to sustained improvements in infrastructure, academic stability, research culture, and programme expansion.
He expressed particular delight at the accreditation and reactivation of the MBBS programme, which had been dormant for twelve years.

Governor Ododo further emphasized his administration’s dedication to student welfare, stressing that bursary schemes and other support interventions have been sustained to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder access to education for students in the state.
In her address, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Marietu Tenuche, disclosed that a total of 26,160 first-degree graduates were produced across the five academic sessions covered by the convocation.
She stated that the university also graduated 1,139 postgraduate students, including PhD, Master’s, and Postgraduate Diploma holders.
Professor Tenuche acknowledged the support of TETFund, security agencies, host communities, and the Kogi State Government, describing their contributions as critical to the sustained growth and development of the institution.
