The Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KSPHCDA), Doctor. Muazu Omeiza Musa, has urged students of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) to consider the significance of blood donation.
Doctor. Muazu made the call during the inauguration of the Federal University Lokoja Blood Donors Club, held at the university’s E-Learning Centre.

Represented by the Desk Officer for the Sector Wide Approach (SWAP), Doctor. Emmanuel Bola Jonah, the KSPHCDA boss described blood donation as a simple but powerful act that reflects science, solidarity and social responsibility, with the capacity to save millions of lives globally every year.
He noted that despite significant advances in modern medicine, many countries still face critical shortages in blood supply, stressing the need for increased awareness, improved access and a positive shift in public perception toward blood donation.
Doctor. Muazu also expressed satisfaction with the improved safety of blood donation, attributing it to rigorous screening processes, advanced testing technologies and strict ethical standards that protect both donors and recipients.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, commended the Directorate of Welfare of the Students’ Union Government for initiating the Blood Donors Club.
Also speaking, the Director of Welfare, Hassan Gimba Aminu, encouraged students to actively participate in the club and donate blood regularly as a way of contributing to the preservation of lives.
