The Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board says about one thousand five hundred intending pilgrims will undergo medical screening ahead of the 2026 hajj operations.
Executive Secretary of the board Malam Idris Ahmed Almakura announced this during the flag-off ceremony of the screening at the Emirs palace Nasarawa Local government area.
The Executive Secretary who was represented by the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Mallam Abubakar Ahmad, emphasized that the medical screening is a mandatory requirement for participation in the Hajj exercise, stressing that any intending pilgrim who fails to appear will be dropped from the final list of participants.
The Executive Secretary of the board further charged the medical team to ensure comprehensive screening and the submission of accurate reports for the Board’s necessary action.
The leader of the medical team, Dr. Muhammad Salihu Ozygya, assured the Board of thoroughness, assuring that no intending pilgrim would be spared. from the medical screening.
Dr. Ozygya outlined that the screening includes pregnancy and tuberculosis tests, physical examination, as well as blood and urine tests, among other procedures.
In his remarks, the Board Chairman, Mallam Umar Baba Nasarawa, urged prospective pilgrims to conduct themselves orderly during the exercise, assuring that the Board would ensure all pilgrims are screened.
Some of the intending pilgrims Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Laminga and Sa’adatu Garba who undergoes the screening commended the Board for taking steps to ascertain the health status of all intending pilgrims before the spiritual journey.
Our correspondent reports that the screening will wrap up over three days across the three senatorial districts of the state.
