The Plateau State Government has reiterated it’s commitment towards prioritizing youth empowerment and development.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang stated this at the opening ceremony of a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion, safety and maintenance training in Jos.
The training was organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in collaboration with the National Energy Corporation.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang said that as Nigeria transitions toward cleaner, more affordable and sustainable energy solutions, the CNG presents enormous opportunities across economic, environmental and social sectors.

He noted that Plateau State is well-positioned to benefit from the national energy transition and assured the organizers of the state government’s collaboration in participation, mobilization, as well as stakeholder engagement with administrative support to ensure the smooth implementation of the program.
Governor Mutfwang reiterated his adminstration’s commitment to empowering youths with sustainable skills, describing it as a viable pathway to tackling unemployment, promoting innovation and securing the future of the state.
He urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity by remaining disciplined, committed and eager to learn, stressing that the knowledge acquired has the potential to transform their lives.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Lawandi Datti, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Lohnan Gambo, said a vibrant economy can only be driven by vibrant youths.
He described energy as a key driver of economic growth and commended the organisers for designing a programme capable of stimulating economic activities in the state.
Also speaking, Lead Consultant of Thermolinks, Mr. Tonye Briggs, appreciated the state government for its support and explained that the Federal Government initiated the CNG conversion programme in response to global demands for cleaner energy.
Mr. Briggs said the training comprises both theoretical and practical sessions, adding that participants will receive toolkits at the end of the programme to support their take-off.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Davou Jatau, disclosed that Plateau State had earlier partnered with the National Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria, to establish a conversion centre in the state.
Mr. Jatau appealed to the Federal Government to extend the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano, AKK gas pipeline project to the northern region to facilitate access to CNG and accelerate conversion efforts.
Participants at the training were drawn from the seventeen Local Government Areas of the state.
