The validation of the Standard Operation Procedures, SOPs, to strengthen the operations of Benue State Civil Protection Guard, BSCPG has been implemented in Makurdi.
The project which is funded by the SPRiNG programme, an initiation of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office of the UK Government, is being implemented by Tetra Tech International Development to make the document relevant, contextually standard and provide a roadmap for the personnel of the security outfit to operate professionally.
Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Internal Security, Joseph Har stated that validating the SOPs to standard would bring the BSCPG to speed with standard operations essential to secure the security of the State.
Mr. Har mentioned that as soon as the Benue State Government signs the SOPs, the Civil Protection Guard would commence the training to boost confidence levels and carry out their duties effectively.
State Commander, BSCPG, Retired Captain Ayuma Ajubi maintained that whenever the Federal Government approves the issue of State Police, the transition of the security outfit would be seamless because they are ahead of the task.
Project Manager, Kukah Centre, Mr Terseer Bamber said the project was introduced to key stakeholders in Benue State aimed at strengthening the legal and operational capacity of the security outfit and assured that specialized training would commence for the personnel.
Mr. Bamber stressed that the Kukah Centre was carrying out what was documented and agreed upon which included assessment of the law establishing the security outfit and provision of specialised training.
