Nasarawa State Government has expressed continuous commitment to promoting women’s welfare, protection, and economic empowerment.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, Barrister Hauwa Samuel Jugbo, made the commitment while speaking at a press briefing as part of activities marking the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration with the theme ‘Give to Gain’, in Lafia.
She highlighted the crucial role women play in driving social and economic development, noted that investing in women strengthens families and grows the economy, and encouraged families to appreciate and support women who play a vital role in sustaining homes and nurturing future generations.
Mrs Hauwa said despite the contributions of women in all spheres of live, they continuously face challenges such as gender-based violence, abuse, and socio-cultural barriers.
She noted that the government is working to address these issues through awareness campaigns and policy advocacy, particularly on gender-based violence.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs admonished women to work hard, participate in political activities, and acquire skills to contribute their quota to the growth of their families and the state.
Barrister Hauwa added that the Ministry has lined up activities to mark the celebration, including a Road Walk, Media Engagement, and Panel Discussions.
