Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, describing security as the foremost responsibility of government.
The Governor made this known at the Kogi State Security Summit and Fund-raising held in Abuja, where he emphasised that peace and stability are essential for development, noting that no meaningful progress can be achieved without a secure environment.
He observed that the security landscape has evolved, with emerging threats such as kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, and cybercrime requiring proactive and intelligence-driven responses.
Governor Ododo said his administration has strengthened the state’s security architecture through the provision of operational vehicles, deployment of communication and surveillance systems, acquisition of drones, and sustained support for security agencies.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to improve national security through enhanced coordination and modernisation of security infrastructure.
The Governor also announced the restructuring of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund to create a transparent platform for individuals and corporate organisations to support security initiatives, urging the business community to contribute towards sustaining a safe environment.
He stressed that the government would not negotiate with criminal elements, assuring that those who threaten peace will face the full weight of the law, while calling on stakeholders to collaborate in securing the state and ensuring lasting stability.
