Following prediction by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency NIMET of impending flooding across the country during this year’s rainy season,the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency, NASEMA has embarked on Advocacy and Sensitization tour to Flood Prone areas across the State.
The team including members of the Nigerian Red Cross visited Loko and Umaisha communities in Nasarawa and Toto Lacal Government Areas identified as most vulnerable to flooding.

The visit by officials of the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency and members of the Nigerian Red Cross to flood prone Areas in the State is to enlighten citizens in communities of Loko and Umaisha on the looming disaster as predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.
The Director General of NASEMA, Mr Benjamin Akwash noted that the visit was aimed at appealing to those living near the river bank to relocate to safer grounds.

He explained that government had taken necessary measures for the provision of relief materials when the need arises.
The Emir of Loko, Abubakar Sabo appealed for the construction of temporary shelter for those that will be relocated from their homes.

At the palace of the Ohimege o Panda Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, appreciated NASEMA for the awareness and also called on the state government to consider the request for a temporary camp ahead of the flooding.


Secretary Nigerian Red Cross, Nasarawa State branch Jerry Kuje reiterated commitment of the society to providing safety skills and techniques to residents to safe lives and property.

There were questions and answers and enlightenment on safety procedures incase of emergency situations.
