President Bola Tinubu says his administration will continue to prioritise quality education, ensure a stable academic calendar, and foster constructive engagement with staff unions.
The President made the pledge in his message as Visitor to the 40th Convocation of the University of Ilorin.
Represented by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Temidayo Oladiji, President Tinubu said his government remained committed to strengthening the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund and other education agencies to support research, entrepreneurship, and skill development.
He commended the University of Ilorin for its outstanding research achievements, international recognition, and innovations, including the Guinness World Record feat by one of its students, Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem.
The President further noted that to enhance innovation, the University has been selected to host one of the National Universities Commission, NUC Digital Innovation Hubs and is among eighteen institutions benefiting from the One hundred and ten billion Naira national intervention for medical training expansion.
Speaking on his administration’s economic reforms, President Tinubu acknowledged that while they may cause temporary hardship, they are designed to build a stronger and more inclusive economy that promotes youth empowerment and institutional growth.
He congratulated the graduands, urging them to see their degrees as a call to creativity, leadership, and nation building as they carry forth the torch of Nigeria’s Renewed Hope.
