Public servants have called on government at all levels to place greater emphasis on their welfare and overall wellbeing.
They made the call in an interview with Radio Nigeria in commemoration of the annual worker’s day celebration in Lokoja.

A state public servant, Odaudu Akpacha, urged the government to create an enabling work environment by providing the necessary tools to enhance productivity and service delivery.
He also stressed the importance of regular training and retraining programmes to keep workers updated and effective in their duties.
In her contribution, a federal civil servant, Akpabana Loretta, appealed to the government to give prompt attention to offices located outside headquarters, noting that improved support would enable staff in such locations to deliver services more efficiently.
She further called on authorities to address the challenges faced by workers, especially in light of the current economic situation, which she said has made it difficult for many public servants to cope due to inadequate remuneration.
Similarly, Pius Edwards observed that the prevailing economic conditions have had a severe impact on public servants, stating that many are struggling to meet daily expenses as their earnings fall short of rising living costs.
The respondents also emphasised that improved welfare packages would not only boost productivity but also enhance commitment to public service.
They further urged the government to engage more with workers through dialogue and policy reforms aimed at improving service conditions, expressing optimism that meaningful interventions would help reposition the public service for greater efficiency and national development.
