Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has unveiled specially coded security jackets for commercial motorcycle operators as part of efforts to strengthen security and improve public safety across the state.
The Governor performed the unveiling at the Government House in Lokoja during a visit by members of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN).

Governor Ododo explained that the jackets, embedded with unique identification codes, would make it easier for passengers and security agencies to identify registered commercial motorcycle operators.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at sanitising the commercial motorcycle sector, preventing criminal infiltration, and promoting safer transportation within the state.
The Governor commended the operators for engaging in legitimate means of livelihood and for contributing to economic activities in the state.

Earlier, the State Chairman of MOUN, Abdullahi Ovurehu, said the jackets would support ongoing efforts to improve security and regulate motorcycle operations across the state.
He also praised the Ododo administration for ongoing road infrastructure improvements and appealed to the government to address the issue of multiple taxation by revenue authorities.
